Inside Ground

The ground is strong underneath my feet
the ground was built from inside me
Where I would have fallen
I now stand still
My heart beats faster, but I know I will
take a breath and be OK
feel the fear as it wants to engage
I hold my body with my mind
while hurtful thoughts turn to kind
With lessons learned and experience earned
I am here and growing
with soft armor built with self-respect
I continue going
